(FAQS)

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about SIP Trunks.

SIP trunking allows you to have voice calls between two parties over the internet from your phone system.

SIP trunking is a method that is used for sending voice and other communications services over the internet. It works in conjunction with a PBX (Private Branch eXchange) which is IP-enabled.

A SIP Trunk is basically a group of the SIP channels. Each SIP channel can handle only one call. This functionality is very similar to a traditional analog telephone line. Number of trunks depend on how many simultaneous calls you require.

Since the number of channels on a SIP trunk changes as you connect and disconnect calls, it involves no particular number of channels. For example, if there are 20 calls on-going, the SIP trunk will have 20 channels for these calls.
