Hardware Overview

Understanding the phone hardware helps you easily use the phone's features.

T57W Hardware

Placing a call

To place a call using the handset

  • Pick up the handset.
  • Enter the number, and tap Send.

To place a call using the hands-free (speakerphone) mode:

  • With the headset connected, press to activate the headset mode. -
  • Enter the number, and tap Send.

During a call, you can alternate between the headset, hands-free speakerphone and handset modes by pressing the HEADSET key, the Speakerphone key or by picking up the handset.

Answering a Call

Using the handset: Pick up the handset.

Using the speakerphone: Press speaker button.

Using the headset: Press headset button.


Redialing a number

Press redial key to enter the Placed Calls list, and then tap the desired entry.
Press redial key twice when the phone is idle to dial out the last dialed number.

Call Mute and Un-Mute

Press mute key to mute the microphone during a call.
Press mute key again to un-mute the call.

Call Transfer

Blind Transfer
Tap the Transfer soft key during a call. The call is placed on hold.
Enter the number you want to transfer to.
Press the transfer soft key again on screen.

Semi-Attended Transfer

Press or tap the Transfer soft key during a call. The call is placed on hold.
Enter the number you want to transfer to and then press
Press or tap the Transfer soft key when you hear the ring-back tone.

Attended Transfer
Press or tap the Transfer soft key during a call. The call is placed on hold.
Enter the number you want to transfer to, and then press
Press or tap the Transfer soft key when the second party answers.

Hold

To put an active call on hold:
Press the Hold soft key or Hold function button.
To resume the call:
Press the Resume softkey or Resume function button.
If you have more than one call on hold, tap the Line key of the call you wish to continue, your call will now be active.

Call Conference
Tap the Conference soft key during an active call. The call is placed on hold.
Enter the number of the second party, and then press or tap Conference.
Tap the Conference soft key again when the second party answers. All parties are now joined in the conference.
Tap the End Call soft key to disconnect all parties.

Power LED Indicator
The power LED indicator indicates the call, message and phone’s system status.

Line Key LED

The line key LED indicators are associated with the status of phone lines and features. It is not available on T57W phones.
Line key LED (associated with the phone line)

Status Bar: Display the default account on T57W/T54W phones, feature status icons, and the time. The status
icons are displayed when features are activated.
Line Keys: Display the information associated with the line keys and feature keys on the phone.
Page Icons: The page icons appear only when you assign functionality to line key located in line key 11-27 on
the T54W phones or line key 9-21 on the T53W/T53 phones.
Soft Keys: Each soft key label indicates the action for the soft key below the screen.
More Key: Tap to display more line keys on the T57W phones.
Shortcut and Main Menu: Tap to access the shortcut or enter the main menu on the T57W phones.

Calls Screen

All of your active and held calls are displayed on the calls screen. For T54W/T53W/T53, you can press up or down
navigation key to switch among calls.
The calls screen can display the local name or number. Check with your system administrator to find out if this fea-
ture is available on the phone. When there is an active call and a held call, the calls screen is shown below:
